Brave!

Nathan braved his hernia surgery like a champ on Friday. We were so proud!  "Blue blankie" made the trip to the operating room by Nathan's side too!  The pre-op room was playing Despicable Me on the tv so he was a happy boy!

After the surgery, Tot was snoring so loud in the recovery room that Bryan and I couldn't help but snicker. :)

He has already bounced back so fast!  We have to keep reminding him that he has a big incision to be careful with as it heals. He wants to run and jump and play so bad!!

In expectation of Easter...

Bryan's Granny sent out her annual email to invite family to her house to celebrate Easter and I loved her words to describe the Easter celebration...

rejoice ... Easter means NEW LIFE in Christ who is risen from the dead, living in us through the indwelling of the "Other One, just like him ...the Holy Spirit" and we celebrate that new life he gives us in appropriating Him as Redeemer who set us free from the slavery of sin ... still sinners who sin, but the Sweet Holy Spirit convicts us and we don't have to die for them, we just confess and turn from immediately .. He forgives and forgets because jesus paid it all ... Celebrate Jesus Every Day, but especially on Resurrection Sunday .... and He is coming again, just as He said ..

Such great truth!  Celebrate our Savior, the One that Paid it All!

Last night, Bryan read the Easter story to the boys before bed.  When he got to the cross, Jordan said, "that's where Jesus died."  And Bryan replied, "and He didn't do anything wrong."  Then Nathan piped up, "well, there was that one time that He took $40 from that one guy." Ha!  Pretty sure he's got his stories mixed up!  At least he's listening!

He got a tiny bit restless during his breathing treatment this afternoon so we had to get a little creative!

Looks like a fighter pilot in training to me! 

Carson

Carson has given us quite a scare over the last few days.  I took him to the doctor on Friday afternoon for a little congestion and ear infection.  The doctor added a medication to his breathing treatments and put him on an antibiotic for his ear infection.  On Saturday, Carson got worse.  On Sunday, he was extremely lethargic and his color wasn't quite right.  We decided to take him to the urgent care clinic.  The nurse and medic checked him in and took his vitals.  His oxygen was at 84%.  Once the nurse saw 84%, they kicked it in high gear and the next thing I knew, we were in an ambulance on the way to the children's hospital downtown.  

Once we got to the ER, they took chest X-rays, hooked him up to an IV, and continued his oxygen and breathing treatments.  Turned out he had a respiratory virus that turned into pneumonia.  He perked up a bit last night to eat a cheese quesadilla (one of his favorites!) 

Today, Carson enjoyed looking out the window, playing in the playroom, and riding in the wagon!

I had a hard time keeping up with him in the playroom!

We are now in our 2nd night in the hospital and he's feeling so much better!!  They weaned him off oxygen today and he's eating and drinking pretty well.  Looks like we will be going home tomorrow!  

Many thanks to everyone who jumped in to help out with the other three little rascals at home so Bryan and I could both be with Carson last night.  Such a blessing to have family nearby!!  

Praise God that He is our Healer, Creator, Prince of Peace, and Comforter during the storms.

A Day with Nater-Tot

At Nathan and Jordan's 5 year check-up, our pediatrician found a hernia in Nathan's belly.  I took the day off school today to take him in to see the surgeon and we had a little Mommy-and-Tot day.  It was priceless time with my boy.

Daddy left some surprise Scooby-Doo snacks for the car ride...

After the doctor appointment, we are lunch at the mall.  Our buddy, Superman, joined us for the trip.

Nathan was introduced to orange chicken and he loved it!   This kid loves samples...one reason why he loves mall food courts and Costco.  The lady at the Chinese place offered him a sample of orange chicken and he decided he wanted that for lunch.  So funny!  Maybe he'll share my love for Asian food!

Nathan's surgery is scheduled in a couple of days.
