First Day of Kinder and 4th!

This was an extra exciting first day of school because all the kids are on the same campus.  One-drop-off-ya’ll.  They ride the bus together to my school in the afternoon and it is glorious!  They have loved their first week of school.  C and H went on a scavenger hunt for Pete the Cat, played on the playground, made maker-space stop motion videos in the library...wow.  So impressed with what they are already doing in kinder! Carson was excited to buy his lunch this week.  We cracked up when he said, “yeah, I’m gonna order spaghetti!!!”  Ha! We had to explain how the menu works (it’s not a restaurant) and cheeseburgers were on the schedule for Thursday. He said, “ooooh, well I like cheeseburgers.”  

Nate and Jordy have a group of best buds that have a “meeting place” on the playground so they can play together each day.  And it makes my heart explode that they have such strong friendships.  I love watching my big kids be big kids.

Meet the Teacher

We were super excited to visit the school, drop off supplies, and meet our teachers!  Carson and Harper were loving the chance to check out the brand new school buses.  

A New Chapter

I switched from math to science this year and I am loving it!  My new friend, Rachael, and I make quite a team!  So fun!  

And look at my shoes that one of my school moms made for me!!  I am in heaven!!

Welcome to the family, Minnie!

Today was a big day at the Calvert house!  Bryan and I finally caved into our kids and we have a puppy!  Minnie is a miniature golden doodle and she completes our family so well. She’s playful, snuggly, cute, friendly, and smart.  Gram stayed home with the kids while we drove about 80 miles to pick her up and come back.  The kids were totall surprised!  They had no idea we were getting a puppy today.  This was the biggest secret I have ever had to keep.   It was so worth it!  I’ve felt a little guilty that our kids didn’t have a pet when they were studying graphs in first grade.  One of the surveys was, “What kind of pet do you have at home?”  Nate and JP were each one of two kids that didn’t have a pet.  Total.mom.fail.moment.  Up until this point our hands were full.  But I said it in a previous post...that I am loving this big-kid-stage!   The kids were all super helpful with Minnie today. Minnie will be so good for our hearts and therapy for our souls.  I love her already.

All four of these kids are troopers!  I dragged them up to school for an unbelievable number of hours this year so that I could get my new room ready to teach science.  Jill and I worked together to paint two walls...what would I do without friends like her!?  Then, I added my own stuff and it all came together.  I go back to work on Monday and just this week I have had one Slurpee, one sno-cone, and one Sonic milkshake.   The sugar temporarily helped the depression!  Ha!  Kidding really...I love my job and I am so excited to meet my new kiddos...but wouldn’t it be awesome if I could do that and it be summer at the same time?!

Uno Attack!

We have all enjoyed this game during the summer.  It’s on of my favorite ways to motivate them to take quick baths.  “If everyone takes a bath by 7:00, we can play Uno Attach as a family!”  It works every time.   Carson was a pretty sore loser the first time and got sent to bed early after one too many screams and ugly cries over it not being his turn to push the button.  Oh Lordy.  But after that, he was a great sport! I have said it so many times this summer but I am really loving this big-kid-stage.   The baby-stage was unforgettable and snuggly but this is a whole new level of family fun!

The buffet consisted of poptarts, cinnamon toast, apple sauce, microwaves cheese quesadillas, and cookies.  I was totally thrilled because I didn’t have to cook supper!! They served everyone an ice water and even set the table with a fork and napkin at each spot.  It was the most maginificant buffet ever!

Basketball Champs!

The Warriors finished summer basketball in 1st place!  Woohoo!  This sure is a fun team of super sweet, hard working boys!

They enjoyed a celebratory swim party at Campbell’s house.  These boys had so much fun and swam so hard!  They would slide 3 at a time on a float like a crazy person down the water slide into the pool...scared me to death but they thought it was hilarious!  Nothing in my growing-up-years prepared me to be a boy mom, especially a boy mom x3.  Only Jesus can equip me with those skills.
