Embracing Second Day Hair and Our Two Week Checkups

Okay, so I wrote the title to this post on Wednesday...now it is Friday night and I just tucked Jordan and Nathan in their bed and finally had a few minutes to update the blog. And, all I can think about right now are all the little things that need to be done around my house! Oh well. They will have to wait. On Wednesday, I was enjoying my second day hair. Then, on Thursday, I embraced my third day hair...isn't that rediculous!? These two baby boys are keepin' their Mama very busy. For Christmas, Bryan gave me a gift certificate to get my hair cut and colored. I had not had my hair colored for like 5 years. I made my hair appointment for this afternoon and I was counting down the hours to my new "do." I sat in the chair and told Jordin (my hair stylist) that I needed a lower maintence hairstyle. She chopped it off to a little "bob" and I LOVE it. THANKS JORDIN! Thanks to my lower maintance cut, third day hair is so not necessary! Second day hair?...that is a must!

On a second note, Jordan and Nathan had their two week check-up with our pediatrician this week. Jordan weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces and Nathan was back to his birth weight of 6 pounds. Nathan had not been eating very well since we left the hospital but as of two days ago, he has been an eatin' champ. Praise the Lord! He will be growing like a weed now and catching up with Jordan before we know it.

Swaddle Up!

Thanks to my sister, Jennifer, and friend, Amber, Jordan and Nathan have a couple sets of handmade blankets that they love to be swaddled in at night. I had to share these pictures because I think they look like two little burritos! We are slowly finding a routine and I am slowly coming out of this newborn fog. Thanks to my Mom and sister for staying with us at night and helping with feeding times. Bryan was able to sleep through the night this week while he adjusted to going back to work. Jordan and Nathan will be two weeks old tomorrow night...time is already flying by! Janelle, I can't imagine what turning 3 feels like. I'm teary eyed about turning 2 weeks.
By the way, since this picture was taken, I have transitioned Jordan and Nathan to cute pacifiers. I made sure to bring cute pacifiers to the hospital with us so they wouldn't get attached to these big ol' Soothies in the hospital nursery. But, sure enough, they would NOT take the cute pacifiers in the hospital...I know... I am so mean. Don't worry, they like the new ones just fine and you can actually see their cute little faces when they have the new pacifiers in their mouths! :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Thanks for the Valentine's bibs, Aunt Emily! This was our fun attempt to take a picture of two one week old boys...impossible! :)

And, we had some fun Valentines' come to visit. Aunt Libby and Brad came all the way from Houston! (Do you see our little furry child, Harley, in the corner of the picture begging for some love from Brad? Poor Harley and Cooper...they are so hungry for lovin' these days!)

Anna Claire and Jill came to visit too. Anna Claire said that Jordan and Nathan have little ears and little "nose pits." She couldn't remember the name for nostrils. I thought "nose pits" works just fine. Sounds like a perfect definition for nostrils to me! :)

We're home!

We are so glad to be home! We left the hospital yesterday afternoon and made it successfully through our first night at home. I am still recovering from my c-section so my mom and Bryan both took night duty last night. They were awesome! Jordan is a great eater and Nathan is getting better every day. I'll have to write more details later... but for now, here are a few pictures of our babies and some of our sweet visitors!

Welcome Jordan and Nathan!

Jordan Paul Calvert was born Saturday night at 10:21 p.m followed by his brother Nathan Joel Calvert at 10:23. Jordan weighed 6lbs 3 oz and measured 19 1/2 inches long. Nathan weighed 6lbs even and measured 19 1/4 inches long.

Everyone is healthy and doing great. We are very excited! It looks like we will be going home sometime on Tuesday.

I'm Free!

I took the medicine pump out of my leg this morning! I can not explain how nice my shower was this morning. I have had to put my medicine pump in this big plastic bag that hangs from the shower head and the tube was still attached to my leg. So, when I got in the shower, I couldn't turn around...washing my hair was pretty tricky! I don't have to be on bed rest anymore because it will be safe to go into labor, so I really enjoyed being a little more independant today. I have had a few contractions today but nothing consistant. SO, these babies might be taking their precious time to let me know they are ready to come. I'm just hoping it is sooner than later!

Lots of Things...

Congratulations to my friend, Amanda, on the birth of her baby girl, Annabeth Ellen Jones! She is just beautiful and perfect!

Look here, to see the most adorable baby gift that Megan and Ellen brought by the house for Jordan and Nathan! Megan and Ellen are precious sisters that have started their own embroidery and sewing business. They are so talented and creative! By the way, they are making really cute Valentine's Day t-shirts if you need one for you or a little one. Check out their stuff!

Third, we went to the doctor yesterday. I haven't changed much and the babies still look great! So, that meant that I could go back home to stay on bed rest until Friday. On Friday, I will be able to take my medicine pump out of my leg and get up to walk around more. At that point, it will be safe for me to go into labor. Hopefully, everything will go pretty fast after the medicine is stopped! As for right now, I am still just hanging out in my bed all day. Here is a fun picture from when Vivi came to visit one day. Yes, she is playing with Play-Doh on a breakfast tray in my bed. Don't worry, I wouldn't let just any child play with Play-Doh in my bed! Vivi doesn't really touch the Play-Doh very much ...she likes someone else to flatten it out and then she presses a cookie cutter down into it. She doesn't like her hands to be messy!
