The Nursery

Jordan and Nathan's nursery is finally complete! We started with an adorable animal alphabet book that belonged to Bryan's Granny when she was a little girl. The note on the front, in his great grandmother's handwriting said the book was a gift from their landlord on Granny's 1st birthday. I had seen the book, a little torn and tattered, in a Rubbermaid tub at Granny's house a couple years ago. When I saw it, I said, "Oh those pages would frame so cute for a nursery one day." Granny remembered and wrapped it up for me for Christmas in 2007. At the time, Bryan and I were going through all sorts of fertility treatments that were not working. Granny had the sweetest note inside the book and I opened it in front of the whole family. I cried. Well, we all cried. Granny was believing God that one day we would have a nursery in our home and a perfect place for that precious book. Here we are!! I feel so blessed to know that Jordan and Nathan will be sleeping underneath a very powerful statement of faith! My dear teaching friend and mentor from school, had the four pages to the book framed for my baby gift. She couldn't have given us a more special gift!





My mom sewed the bedding, the pillow, the curtains, and the blanket. Isn't she talented?! My sister, Jennifer, made the canopies for the mobiles over the beds. And, my mom's friend, Vicki, found the perfect mobiles.



Now all we need is two little baby boys to fill the room with laughter, cries, coos, and love!

Good Report

Bryan and I went to the doctor today. I was so excited to leave the house and get some fresh air...even if it was 32 degree air! We got a good report from the perinatal specialist and from my ObGyn, so they sent us back home. Praise the Lord! Hopefully we can make it at least 11 more days.

My school friends put together the most incredible basket full of books, magazines, snacks, puzzles, and more! My teacher friend, Janay, brought it by the house this afternoon. I work with the most amazing teachers and administrators. We are all really friends and prayer partners, not just coworkers. I will owe them big time when I get back to work.

I also need to give a shout out to my mom, my sister, and Bryan. They have been so patient with me! They have helped out so much so that I can stay in bed and follow doctor's orders.

Home Sweet Home!

I was released from the hospital late Friday afternoon. I am on very strict bed rest orders and we have a home healthcare system that has supplied us with a home contraction monitor. I have to hook myself up to the monitor twice day for an hour each time and then the information is transmitted through the Internet to a nurse. The nurse reads the information and calls me with any instructions. I also have a medication pump in my leg that drips medicine constantly to keep the contractions under control. I am so glad to be home!!

This bed rest thing is hard! All I want to do right now is walk around the block or go to Target or something. Janelle brought me some puzzles yesterday and Jill brought by some movies today. We have a friend from my school bringing our supper tonight and another friend coming by to visit tonight. We are overwhelmed with the support we have received from friends and family helping to pass the time. Thank you to all of you that are praying for us and thinking about us.

Update from the hospital...

They were able to take Becca off of the magnesium yesterday afternoon and start her on a new medication to stop the contractions. Thankfully the new meds don't make her feel sick and she is doing much better. She was thrilled this morning when they told her she could wear her own clothes instead of the not-so-modest hospital gown!

The good news is that the contractions have stopped and they told us that there is a 99% chance the babies won't be born for two more weeks! Becca will have to remain on bed rest for the remainder of the time though. Dr. Clark is going to look at the babies tomorrow and determine whether he wants Becca to stay in the hospital for bed rest or if he will allow her to go home. We are in Baylor Grapevine for those of you that don't know. Thanks for all the text messages, phone calls, and emails! We appreciate all of the encouragement and prayers. We are very thankful for our wonderful friends and family!

Update on Becca...

This is Bryan posting for Becca. Wasn't it John Lennon who said "life is what happens when you are making plans"? As we walked into Dr. Clark's office yesterday for our weekly check-up I mentioned to Becca that I hoped it was a speedy appointment so I could get home and get some things done. Forty-five minutes later we were being admitted to labor and delivery! It turns out that Becca was dilated 2 centimeters and had no idea! They have been giving her medications to slow down the contractions but they make her feel pretty sick. Last night was a long night for her because they had to come in and check on her every hour. We found out this morning that Becca will have to stay here in the hospital until the babies come. The babies look good right now but we need them to stay in for as long as possible to allow their lungs and organs to fully mature. Becca will be 34 weeks this Friday and they really want her to make it to 36 weeks. Please pray for Becca, Jordan, and Nathan. I will post updates as often as possible.

Catching Up

So, I have some catching up to do!

First of all, congratulations to my friend, Sunni, for the birth of her baby girl, Clara! She is beautiful!

Second of all, if you haven't read this story from Jill's blog, you have to! Anna Claire says the most hilarious things. :)

Third, my college roomate, Virginia, gave birth to her baby girl last week. Congratulations to Virginia and Evan!

And, fourth, I am 33 weeks along and counting down the days to when I get to meet my Jordan and Nathan! My dear friends and sister gave me the most precious shower last weekend. I was thrilled to have my precious friend, Paige, her mom, and little Finley, here all the way from Tampa to celebrate with us. They gave me a blessings shower. Each hostess had a card with a scripture verse and a specific prayer request for Jordan and Nathan. They took turns reading the cards and praying over the babies. Ya'll, there was A LOT of prayin' goin' on last Saturday morning! It was such a special and precious time with close friends and family. Everyone was crying...oh I will just never forget it. I not only cried off my mascara, but my eye shadow and eye liner too! Bryan and I are so grateful to be surrounded by such strong friends.

My Quarterback and My Lineman!

We had another trip to the doctor today. All of us (Jordan, Nathan, and Me) are still growing and looking healthy! Jordan and Nathan were measured today. Dr. Payne (one of our Perinatal Specialists) called Jordan a quarterback, weighing in at 4 pounds 6 ounces. And, he called Nathan a lineman, weighing in at 4 pounds 13 ounces! This made their father, the coach, very proud. We still have at least 4 1/2 weeks to go! If all keeps going well, these babies will be delivered between 36 and 38 weeks. I have some BIG boys in my belly. Here are a few pictures from our ultrasound today. There are two pictures of Nathan only because the first one was a better profile of his sweet little face, but the second picture shows off his little chubby cheek!
